PETITION AGAINST AUTOUR DU ROCHER’S DECOMMISSIONING

LET’S MOBILIZE FOR OUR NATURAL AREAS ! SAY NO to the decommissioning of the natural plot AP137, aka “Autour du Rocher”

Organized by a group of citizens whose association St Barth Essential is part of, a petition is currently circulating in the island. It aims to prevent the downgrading toward a building area of the plot AP137 in the “Carte d’urbanisme’s” project. Currently located in a natural area, a green area (see photo cons) this plot well known for hosting the ruins of the old hotel-club “Autour du Rocher” is remarkable both in term of landscape (this promontory is a key element of Lorient bay’s landscape ) as biodiversity, as the plot harboring at least two protected plant species (Cocothrinax barbadensis, and Opuntia triacantha).

Apart disfiguring the peculiar landscape of Lorient Bay, the downgrading of this piece of land would regularize the Certificat d’urbanisme that the Conseil exécutif has granted for building a hotel of 24 bungalows on a built surface of 4580 m2, in contravention with the urbanism rules in this plot land located in a natural area.

The Collectivité indeed just announced THE IMMINENT CLOSURE OF THE PUBLIC CONSULTATION organized as part of the adoption process of a “Carte d’urbanisme”.

SHARE YOUR OPPOSITION AND SIGN THE PETITION that will be included in the register of observations of the Carte d’urbanisme’s project.

The more we are, the more we will be heard: the objective being that Members of the Conseil territorial take it back and decide to maintain AP 137 in a natural area.
